Experience & Education

2024 - 2026

MS Robotics, KAIST

Daejeon, South Korea

I am currently completing my MS in Robotics under Professor Dong Eui Chang at Control Lab, KAIST. My major focus has been primarily on control theory and learning-based algorithms for robot control. I have worked on reinforcement learning, application of RL for robot control and recently I have been focusing on differentiable simulations for policy learning. My Masters Thesis is titled "Accelerating Policy Learning for Robust Control of Robotic Manipulators and Aerial Vehicles via Physics-Informed Guidance".

Throughout my MS, I have gained experience in analyzing nonlinear dynamic systems especially manipulators and drones, designing traditional algorithms like PID, SMC, LQR, MPC and observers, and on desinging and training learning-based algorithms for the same using model-free RL, world-models, traditional imitation learning, VLAs and DiffSim.

I was also part of a research project on ship-based manipulator system funded by Hanwha Aerospace where I designed the control stack, simulation engine, control algorithms and learning-based adaptation modules.

I have also gained a niche expertise in modeling dynamic systems, and designing simulation models, either completely from scratch or using tools like Nvidia Issacsim, Warp, MATLAB and Simulink.

2021 - 2024

Senior Engineer, Enphase Energy

Bangalore, India

I worked as a Senior Engineer at Enphase Solar Energy for 2.5 years after my undergrad. My major focus was on two important aspects of our products: analyzing and simulating existing power management control algorithms used in the products, especially the Envoy and Enpower; and on supporting the development of automatic validation testing framework.

I built simulation models for our products from scratch utilizing existing C++ code within MATLAB, and tested and verified new algorithm proposals. The simulation models also supported validation teams and the field engineers in reproducing complicated failure cases that are impractical on real hardware.

​

I supported the development of C++ and Python drivers to communicate our products with existing testing devices and on a custom scripting language to automate the testing platforms.

​

I also built simulation models for our high frequency communication channels to identify failure cases and worst case limitations of our propreitary communication frameworks.

2017-2021

BTech ECE, IITG

Guwahati, India

I completed my BTech in Electronics and Communication Engineering from Indian Institute of Technology, Guwahati in 2021. My Bachelors Thesis was done under Dr Hanumant Singh Shekhawat, EEE Dept., IITG on "Multi-agent Multi-Objective Optimization with Deep Q-Learning".

During my time at IITG, I was a core part of the Tech board student clubs, being the project/inventory manager for Robotics Club, and the microcontrollers team lead for Electronics Club. I was also a core member of 4i Labs which included the best and largest projects from the student clubs. I participated in two Inter IIT Tech meets, in 2018 and 2019, earning one bronze and two silver medals. In the 2020 Tech meet, hosted by IITG, I helped design the problem statements for the event.​

Teaching Experience

2024, TA

Pre-URP, KAIST

Daejeon, South Korea

I worked as a teaching assistant under Professor Dong Eui Chang for Pre-URP which is a month long event for high-school students to learn and experience Robotics in selected KAIST labs. I taught ROS, SLAM, motion planning and using these algorithms on the Turtlebot platform to the students.

Data-Driven System Theory

My Bachelors Thesis supervisor Dr Shekhawat called me to provide guest lectures on Reinforcement learning theory and applications in his IITG graduate elective course. I taught the basics of RL, moving from MDPs upto Deep Q-learning, and their implementation in Tensorflow.

YTS Programme, Plaksha

Remote, India

I worked as a teaching assistant twice in the YTS programme aimed to teach high school students about electronics, programming and robotics. This was performed under Professors from different universities including NEU, Harvard, and several IIT professors.

Automation Lab

I worked as a teaching assistant under Dr Shekhawat for his Automation Lab graduate elective course. My focus was on designing the experiments and teaching basics of robotic, specifically control, motion planning, ROS, custom algorithm implementations on edge devices and their communication protocols.

2019, Project Manager

Robotics Club IITG

As the project manager for the Robotics Club, I designed, set up teams, and taught the required skills for new projects in the club. Other tasks included designing and hosting inter-hostel competitions, hosting and managing the yearly project exhibition event TechEvince. I was also the inventory manager, handling all the influx and outflux of different items in the club for all the projects. We also hosted workshops for computer vision and robotics fundamentals for new students.

2019, Microcontrollers Team Lead

I taught new students with hands-on experiences on ATMega and PIC microcontrollers, communication protocols for various devices and projects using these devices. Other tasks included designing and hosting inter-hostel compeitions, hosting and managing the yearly project exhibition event TechEvince. We also hosted workshops for microcontrollers and hackathons for new students.

Achievements

2025, Bronze, Huggingface Hackaton

LeRobot Hackathon

Daegu, South Korea

Our team won bronze (20th rank worldwide) in the LeRobot Huggingface hackathon. Our project dealt with SmolVLA for robot collaboration. 

2025, KIRIA Prize

In the Daegu region, our team also won the Korea Institute for Robot Industry Advancement Prize for the same LeRobot hackathon.
